- the company has been dedicated in farm operation early since it was founded in oct. 1990. in 1991 the company rented 6 self-operated farms, with an area of 1700 mu.
- because it was at the beginning of accepting taiwan investment, the farm operation was still based on the special background of the old times, which resulted in the incoordination of the farm operation with the company principles. so the company had to replace the self-operation with the operation of farm owners in year 1992.
- after the “organic food development center” was established in 1996, the staff of the center vigorously promoted farm management ideas. at that time the farmers also had got a good farm management consciousness. so the company re-joined in the operation of the farms in mar. 1997, sent farm managers to attend the training held by “organic food development center”, and accumulated experience in farm operation. besides, the company successfully developed 3 self-operated farms in 1999 and had them ofdc organic certified, with the certified area of 560 mu.
- based on the success of farm operation, after one year’s promotion, in oct. 2000 beihai’s self-operated farms and contracted farms grew to 12, with area expanded to 1500 mu. we made application for jas organic certification to japan ics (international certification service agency) and were certified in apr. 2002, with certified area of 441 mu. at that time the farm-lized production material management primarily emerged.
- in mar 2001 tbs tracking management system was introduced into the company, which further strengthened the consciousness of the importance of farm management, that is, the farm development.
- in oct. 2001 the self-operated farms and contracted farms of beihai grew to 43, with area of 3300 mu. at the same time, tbs tracking management system was fully implemented inside the company and the company entered self-producing material and self-processing stage.
- after one year’s strengthening of farm management, in aug. 2002 we made application to yantai ciq for base registration.
- presently the main measures taken by beihai in farm management include: i. to select farms according to the requirement of the company? ii. to arrange planting plan by the company and at the same time fully supervised and supported by the company during implementation? iii. to strictly control the use of pesticide following the “standard for remnant of pesticide” issued by health ministry of japan. selecting low-toxic pesticide with short remnant period and designating safe and reliable suppliers for purchase of pesticide. iv. before harvest of material, sample it in compliance with related standard and test the pesticide remnant. only the qualified can be harvested.
